Magma Users Group Expanded and Renamed "MUSIC" -- Announces Worldwide Meetings for 2004
"Magma Users Summit on Integrated Circuits" Meetings
Planned for India, United States and United Kingdom
SANTA CLARA, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Feb. 11, 2004—
Magma(R) Design Automation, Inc. (Nasdaq:LAVA), a provider of chip
design solutions, today announced that its expanded and newly re-named
users group, MUSIC, will host meetings in India, the United States and
the United Kingdom. The first 2004 users conference will be in
Bangalore, India in August, with meetings planned for Silicon Valley
and Bristol, United Kingdom, to follow in September and October,
respectively.
The new name MUSIC, for "Magma Users Summit on Integrated
Circuits," replaces the former name, Fusion. "The name 'Fusion' tied
the group too closely to Magma's Blast Fusion product," said Pallab
Chatterjee, president of SiliconMap and chairman of MUSIC. "The
company has a much broader portfolio -- a symphony of products, if you
will -- so it's appropriate to change the name now."
MUSIC meetings provide a forum for Magma users to exchange ideas,
discuss problems and explore solutions related to the design and
manufacturing of integrated circuits, as well as providing users an
opportunity to meet with Magma staff and product experts. The MUSIC
program covers the key elements of semiconductor design, from
system-level design to tape-out, for systems on chips, ASICs and
FPGAs.
At these conferences Magma's EDA, IP, foundry and ASIC partners
showcase their solutions and interoperability with Magma's software.
Magma users see how other designers have achieved their design goals
with a complete methodology that includes products from Magma's
RTL-to-GDSII technology and complementary tools and technologies from
Magma's partners.
"MUSIC is a forum for users in every sense, giving them an
opportunity to share their real design experiences," said Nitin Deo,
vice president of product marketing at Magma. "We want to get their
honest feedback on Magma software. Some of the best improvements to
our products result from direct input we hear from our customers."
For the Bangalore meeting, Dr. V. Kamakoti of the India Institute
of Technology (IIT) in Madras will serve as chairman and Dr. Sathya
Gupta of Open Silicon will serve as technical adviser. Chatterjee, as
he has the previous two years, will moderate the Silicon Valley
meeting, to be held September 16-17 in Santa Clara. A chairman will be
named shortly to moderate the meeting in Bristol.
Designers with perspective on high-level or physical design
methodologies, RTL-to-GDSII design flows, system simulation,
mixed-technology or experiences with Magma software are encouraged to
present at the MUSIC events. Calls for papers for each of the MUSIC
2004 meetings will be distributed soon. Submissions of abstracts may
be made online at www.magma-da.com/music beginning February 11.
